DOWNLOAD
the RealPlayer®
The
RealPlayer® is a free application. It is not
necessary to purchase the RealPlayer Plus. Make sure
you find and download the RealPlayer Basic. You
may have to look a bit but it is there.
If
you have a version of the Real Player earlier than version 8
and if you are having any problems with video access please download
and install the latest version.
Special
Note to Windows NT users: Our tests indicate that the
RealPlayer 8 offers the best performance on the NT operating
system. We strongly recommend that you download and install
the latest version.
If
you see the animating circles below you have the Flash
player installed.
If
you do not see the animation click here to
download the
Flash Player.
We
strongly recommend the latest version of the Microsoft's
Internet Explorer web browser for optimum performance. Internet
Explorer is available for free download here. You must
use version 4.0 or newer of either Internet Explorer or
Netscape Navigator.

DOWNLOAD
the RealPlayer®
If you are certain that you have a working version of
RealPlayer and you still have problems with the videos in
the module we recommend that you download the latest version
of the Player from the Real website. We have noted
some problems with older players on Windows NT systems.
Sometimes
I click on a link that should bring up a popup and nothing
happens.
Popup
windows are used extensively throughout the modules. If
you fail to close a popup after viewing it will remain
open "behind" the main widow. When you click on
other popups they will open in the already open window but
will remain hidden to you. This is why you must close each
popup after you have viewed its contents.
There
are "back" and "next" links at the
bottom right of each page for moving through the
module.
"Pop-up" windows are
used extensively throughout the modules. Please make sure
you close each pop-up window after you have viewed its
contents by clicking on the "Close Window" link at
the bottom of each pop-up window.
Links to outside websites
open in a new browser window with all navigation controls
accessible. These also have a area at the bottom of the
screen that you should click on to close the window before
you continue with the module.
Resource Button: If you are searching for resources used in the Modules you can click on
to get access to transcripts, referenced websites, websites of general interest and related readings.
Journal Button: Clicking on this will take you to the journal area. When you have opened this, click on "Click here for journal entry" and enter any information in the given box. You can then submit the entry and it will be available when you open your journal.
Support button: Clicking here can lead you to
FAQs, step-by-step instruction and information on how to get additional support if you need it.
Logout button: If you want to logout, simply click. Using this link to close the module will automatically update your learner profile page with your progress and quiz scores. Progress and scores are recorded whether or not you use the Logout link.
What do the other graphic elements on the module page do?
Progress:
The length of the colored bar indicates how much of the Module you have completed.
Transcript: Click on this to see the text transcript of a video or lecture.
Play Lecture: Click this to hear an audio lecture. Please note that the lecture is not the same content as that on the text portion of the page. All lectures and video selections come with a test transcript accessed by clicking on the "Transcript" link.
How do I play the video at the correct speed for my Internet connection?
To view the video, select the connection speed that is closest to your Internet connection speed. After clicking on the selection, the RealPlayer should appear automatically and the clip will begin loading. If you feel that you are waiting too long for the video to start, try one of the slower speeds.
How do I keep from having lots of pop-up windows open?
Always close all pop-up windows as soon as you are done reading or viewing the content. You may do this by clicking the "Close Window" graphic.
If you click on links to other websites at any time, there should be
(graphic: click here to close this window before proceeding) at the bottom of the screen. You may also simply close the windows with the "X" in the top right corner to return to the Module.
